TIME TO THRIVE

Last year, I attended a shoot session with the incredible Rebecca Carpenter Photography as part of the Thrive event run by Photography Farm. I was only able to attend day 2 of the event and regretted not investing in the 2 days. this year, I made sure I was booked in for both days and I am so glad I did! WOW! What an amazing and inspiring couple of days.

The event took place on a Monday and Tuesday in March but I travelled down to Brighton on the Sunday evening. Pretty daunting to arrive at a hotel by yourself and just hope you meet people but that is exactly what happened. I headed to the bar and almost immediately bumped into 3 other photographers. By the end of the evening there was probably around 12 of us in the hotel lobby, chatting and sharing stories.

DAY ONE

After a short walk in Brighton, I headed to the conference. With 5 amazing speakers from the industry, the day flew by. Each speaker had some inspiring comments, stories and advice for us. I came away with a book full of notes and head full of ideas.

During the winter months when wedding season is quiet and the bookings aren't flowing so quickly, this event is the perfect boost of motivation. It really gets the creative juices flowing.

DAY TWO

On the second day, as well as talks from suppliers, you also have the option to book on shooting sessions with some the Photographers. Trust me when I tell you this was tough. I could have, I would have booked with them all!
My first session was with Sam Docker. We headed to sea front with our model couple. Sam set up some of his signature shots and allowed us to direct the couple too. Teaching a few tips and tricks along the way.

My second session was with Rebecca Carpenter. Although I'd done the shoot with her in 2022, I know Rebecca always brings her A game and that I would get some great content. She didn't disappoint! Rebecca created an elopement style shoot with a real couple. We started in the hotel room where the couple got ready. We got some lovely shots of the brides shoes and some intimate moments. We moved on to the lift - I do love a lift shot! Outside, we walked around the back of the hotel where Rebecca surprised us with a gorgeous Fiat 500 for the couple to pose in.

So, if you're photographer wondering if you should invest in Thrive 2024, my advice is - DO IT! You will not regret it.

And if you're looking for a photographer, know that anyone that attends this event or anything similar, does so because they love what they do and believe in constantly improving and learning their trade so that they can give their clients their all.
